Executive Search

Woodhouse Executive Search is an executive search firm dedicated to placing leadership talent at mission driven organizations. We have over twenty-five years of executive search experience including a decade dedicated to the nonprofit sector.

Our search strategy aligns with our client’s unique needs. We partner with you to create the position description and agree the best strategy to take the role to market. Our goal is to understand your culture, operations and aspirations and deliver a fully assessed candidate pool using an iterative search process.

Our Process

Assessment of Requirements and Search Kick Off

We conduct a needs assessment to gather requirements for the role including culture and fit through interviews with key stakeholders. This gives us an understanding of intangible qualifications that helps us assess candidates. We develop a project management plan covering every step of the assignment including milestones and timelines.

Prospect Identification and Candidate Cultivation

Our research and proactive outreach strategies leverage your contacts as well as our own extensive network and database. We reach out to sources who might recommend others and potential candidates who are not actively seeking a new position but who might be interested in exploring the position. We interview and assess candidates using competency-based techniques to match requirements and fit. Weekly updates and regular conference calls keep you up to date on our work.

Candidate Presentation and Referencing

We present you with a thoroughly assessed candidate pool including briefing reports and work with you to select candidates who you want to interview. We facilitate scheduling and logistics. Formal and informal references are provided for finalists.

Negotiating the Offer and On Boarding

Working closely with you and the finalist we develop an attractive compensation package and assist with negotiations including benefits and start date. We support on boarding and assimilation checking in with the placement and leadership on a regular basis during the first year.

Leadership and Development Coaching

As a thirty year development veteran, one of my favorite aspects of my career (next to raising major gifts and working with donors) is mentoring staff. Let me help your development staff become more successful & exceed their goals.

  • Are you experiencing frustration with one or more development staff members’ performance?
  • High staff turnover?
  • Managers with little time to dedicate to staff development?
  • Consultant fatigue (i.e. little results for high dollars spent)?

Investing in a professional coach/mentor for one or more of your development team, is likely the best investment you can make to ensure your organization’s fundraising success.

Here are some of the coaching elements I include in 1:1 sessions (in person or via video call) successful major gift fundraising (list development and research; cold calling; first appointment outcome; gift discussion strategy; closing the gift & stewardship) overcoming stumbling blocks for success & role-playing grant writing & proposal writing

I take limited amount of coaching clients at any given time and require a brief interview to determine if there is a “fit” as this is a highly personalized, customized and discrete relationship.

Please call today for a complimentary phone conversation about the challenges you’d like help to overcome.

We’d be delighted to hear from you.
